Any person who uses a computer is aware on the dangers that are caused by computer virus. The recent statistics though show that the concept and issue about computer virus and malware is actually being ignored by a lot. The purpose of the virus is to corrupt or destroy the computer or lurk around and see what you’re doing. There is always a malicious intention when virus in inflicted to a computer system. But for whatever purpose the virus or the malware is intended, it always comes with extreme danger.
According to statistics, there are around 1,200 to 3,000 computer virus being spread everyday. It is even said that catching and being affected with a computer virus is even faster and easier than getting human virus. When you receive a mail containing a virus and accidentally open it, you now are a virus carrier.
Experts educate the public about the slight difference of a malware and that of a computer virus. Malware are coupled with some software and computer system utilities. They look harmless at first but when they start getting into your system, they destroy and affect your computer codes.
Again the public is warned about the risks of getting hit by a computer virus and malware. They maliciously act on your personal information, bank account information, your passwords and logins, credit card details and social security numbers.
Large percentage of credit card theft is due to virus and malware. But the big issue here is that detecting them without the proper software that will make it impossible to track and ‘heal’ the damages. Since most computers we purchase do not have pre-installed programs to scan virus, it is recommended to have a protection installed once you start using your computer. Another thing that experts suggest is to have a firewall installed, though Macs and Windows have built-in firewall programs.
The number of victims of ID and credit card thieves in the US alone has rose to hundred thousands for the last half decade and billions of dollars are scammed each year. FTC had been flooded with complaints and reports lately regarding the unquestionable entries on their credit reports. Though the agency would like to track all thieves, it seems to be a hard thing to do. So what the authorities would like to tell the public is be very careful with all your personal information and have your credit monitored closely.
